From Report to Reunion
PETSAR turns the chaos of a lost pet into an organized, GPS-tracked search operation.
Step 1: Report Your Lost Pet
Upload photos, describe your pet, and drop a pin where they were last seen. Your listing goes live immediately. A professional lost pet poster is generated automatically — ready to print or share to social media.
Step 2: PETSAR Activates
Using mapping technology derived from Department of Defense grid systems, Uber's H3 hexagonal spatial indexing, and AI-powered route optimization, the area around the last sighting is divided into precise search grids. Each grid cell covers a manageable zone with turn-by-turn driving routes that ensure every road gets covered. Volunteers in your area are alerted instantly.
Step 3: The Community Searches
Volunteers claim grid sections and follow GPS routes to search systematically. You can see which areas have been covered and which still need searching. When someone spots your pet, a sighting report with the exact location is sent to you instantly.
Step 4: Reunion
Confirmed sightings automatically shift the search to the new location. The grid regenerates, volunteers are redirected, and the net tightens. Most lost pets are found within a few miles of home — PETSAR makes sure those miles actually get searched.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does PETSAR cost?
The app is free to download. Reporting a lost pet and activating a search costs $25, which includes GPS search grid generation, volunteer coordination, lost pet poster creation, sighting alerts, and 30 days of active listing. Volunteering to help search is always free.
How fast can a search start?
Immediately. Once you report your pet, search grids are generated and volunteers in your area are notified.
Do I need volunteers to search?
No. You can search your own grids using the GPS-guided driving routes. Volunteers are a bonus, not a requirement.
What if someone spots my pet far from where it was lost?
Confirmed sightings automatically regenerate the search grid around the new location and notify all active volunteers.
Is PETSAR available on Android?
PETSAR is currently available on iOS. Android is on the roadmap.
How do sighting alerts work?
Anyone can report a sighting from the pet's public page. You review and confirm it, and the search shifts to the new location.
